National ID system necessary for small businesses, credit system, says Angeles
“It is necessary,” Press Sec. Trixie Cruz-Angeles said about President Bongbong Marcos’ order for 50 million national identification (ID) cards to be ready by the first quarter of 2023.,Marcos on 14 July told the media he met online with National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Director-General and Socioeconomic Planning Sec. Arsenio Balisacan to order the swift distribution of the national IDs under the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) by next year.,“The primary purpose of the meeting was the national ID system — that’s part of our economic recovery system because it is necessary,” Angeles explained.,“It is essential, especially in terms of banking systems or establishment of any business, including small businesses. The national ID system is also important for the credit system,” she added.,Republic Act no. 11055 or the PhilSys Act, signed in August 2018 by then President Rodrigo Duterte in August 2018, created the national ID system.
