Gilas Pilipinas’ campaign in the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup got off on the wrong foot after absorbing a 80-95 loss to Lebanon at the Istora Stadium in Jakarta late Wednesday.,Gilas joins India at the bottom half of Group D as they stadted their campaign with a 0-1 slate.,Holding onto a 33-30 lead in the second quarter, the Lebanese went on a 16-9 run in the five minute mark of the quarter and never looked back as they notch their first win in Group D.,The Philippines showed signs of life after trimming Lebanon’s lead to nine after a 9-0 run by SJ Belangel and Carl Tamayo but Hayk Gyokchyan sank an and-one shot with 3:29 left in the game to put an end to any uprising plans Gilas had.,Wael Arakji paced Lebanon with 20 points and four assits while Jonathan Arledge and Gyokchyan both dropped 19 markers apiece.,Belangel led Gilas with 17 points in a losing effort.
