Medical marijuana, mandatory ROTC among Padilla’s filed priority bills

Neophyte Senator Robin Padilla on Tuesday filed his first 10 proposed measures in the 19th Congress, which include highly-controversial bills such as access to medical marijuana, reinstatement of the mandatory Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC), and divorce.,“We filed our first 10 priority measures in the Senate for the 19th Congress,” Padilla shared on Facebook. “This is just the beginning.”,,“We will focus, study, and advance our advocacies that will address the various issues that directly affecting the public, including the continuous increase in fuel products, problems with agriculture, and food security, and the rampant discrimination,” he added.,Among the notable bills filed by the actor-turned-lawmaker are the Suspension of Excise Tax; Medical Cannabis Compassionate Access Act; Regionalization of Bilibid Prisons; Mandatory Reserve Office’s Training Corps Act; and the Divorce Act of the Philippines.,Also filed by Padilla are the Equal Use of Languages Act; Amending the Rice Tariffication Law; Magna Carta of Barangay Health Workers; the Equality and Non-Discrimination Act; and the Civil Service Eligibility Act.,Based on the infographic material posted in his Facebook account, Padilla explained that the suspension of excise would be limited to unleaded premium gasoline, regular gasoline and diesel fuel oil.,In March, former President Rodrigo Duterte rejected the idea of suspending the excise tax on fuel products, instead his administration approved a P5 billion fuel subsidy for the affected transport, and agricultural workers.
